What’s Happening In Our Class This Week
This week, we are starting our final Unit of Inquiry of the year, looking at the transdisciplinary theme: How We Express Ourselves. Our Central Idea for the unit is, “Play encourages creativity.” Throughout this unit, we will inquire into the ways we play, the purpose of play, and the connection between play and creativity. Our Teacher Questions ask: “What are the different ways we play?”, “Why do we play?”, and “How does play inspire creativity?”. From now until the end of the school year, we will get to focus on what Pre K’s do best–PLAY–as we learn more deeply about this seemingly simple concept.
To start off our understanding of the concepts of function and reflection, we will be exploring different types of play in the next two weeks, and reflecting on why we play, and how we are creative in our different types of play. We will play through building, art, imaginative play, stories, and music & movement. It will be very exciting to see how creative our students are and how they express themselves through play.
Spring Show is coming up on April 20th! Our class is practicing hard and is very excited about sharing with all the parents and other students.
For our performance, we are asking that each parent send in/buy their child a PLAIN gray t-shirt and pants by Tuesday, April 4th, 2017. We will be making the rest of our costume here at school.
As soon as you buy the gray top and bottom, please send it in to school so that we know who has their costume base already.
